We are very happy to answer any questions you may have regarding fitness or personal training. Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions we receive from our clients. If you have any additional concerns, please contact Houston Fitness Institute.
How much does personal training cost?
The price of personal training varies greatly from one trainer to another, and one facility to another. Some variables to consider are the qualifications and experience of the trainer, program design, and session value. Houston Fitness Institute maximizes your time and money through efficient, results-oriented training sessions and fitness programs. We provide you with the greatest value for your personal training time and money. Please contact our fitness professional for complete pricing.
How long will it take me to see results?
Results in weight and appearance can be seen in as little as 1-2 weeks although, there are a number of variables that contribute to the rate and level of change. Some of these factors include genetics, previous exercise history, the level of lifestyle change, and commitment to your fitness program.
What is the best diet to go on in order to lose weight?
Houston Fitness Institute does not endorse any specific “diet”. Also, because we are not Registered Dietitians we are not permitted to prescribe foods or “diets”. Weight loss occurs through a caloric deficit. Therefore, a reduced calorie balanced diet combined with resistance training and cardiovascular exercise is the most efficient and lasting route to weight loss. Through healthy lifestyle choices you will be able to lose weight naturally and keep it off. If you would like more help with your eating habits and food choices, we are able to refer you to a Registered Dietician.
What supplements do I need to take in order to lose weight or build muscle?
Houston Fitness Institute does not recommend supplements to our clients for a number of reasons. Primarily we do not recommend supplements due to the limited research on their long term effects. Secondly, there are possible harmful interactions that can occur with prescribed medications for a pre-existing condition. Our philosophy is to help you reach your fitness goals through healthy lifestyle choices and exceptional program design.
How often should I work out with a personal trainer?
When choosing your personal training program, there are four variables to consider: time, money, motivation and desired results. The best answer to this question is where all these variables intersect. This may vary from as few as once every 2-4 weeks to as many as 5 times a week. Sessions are generally ½ hour or 45 minute sessions. On average, clients meet with their trainer 2-3 times per week for 30-45 minutes each.
How do I lose weight in my waist, hips, or back of my arms?
Unfortunately, we are not able to spot reduce fat loss. We lose fat from all areas of the body with cardiovascular exercise and a balanced reduced calorie diet. We firm these areas by increasing muscle mass through resistance training. The combination of fat loss and muscle building in these target areas, creates muscle tone.
Will working out with weights make women “bulk up”?
In general, women will not “bulk up” through resistance training due to the low level of testosterone. In some instances, a woman’s genetic makeup may create a predisposition to easily increasing muscle mass. In this case, we pay close attention to the level of resistance used as well as the repetition range and length of rest periods.
I have chronic pain or injury, can personal training help me alleviate it?
Houston Fitness Institute prides itself on its attention to detail and awareness of our clients’ special needs. Through the application of our education and experience, we can help assess pain and help correct any muscular imbalances that may be contributing factors to continued discomfort or re-injury.
